Introduction. The role of neutrophil inflammation the bronchi in patients with asthma development and manifestation cold airway hyperresponsiveness (CAHR) has not been sufficiently studied. Aim. To assess level neutrophils activity myeloperoxidase (MPO) cold-induced bronchospasm. Materials methods. In 138 mild-to-moderate CAHR, control (ACT), lung function (FEV 1 ), cellular composition sputum was examined before after bronchoprovocation test by isocapnic hyperventilation air (IHCA). samples, percentage neutrophils, eosinophils, bronchial epithelial cells (structurally intact cylindrical ciliated goblet cells) assessed; concentration MPO were studied cytochemical method. Results. divided into three groups: group (n=94) - mild bronchospasm, 2 (n=28) moderate bronchospasm, 3 (n=16) severe bronchospasm (AFEV =- 13.5±0.3, -24.6±0.5, -36.9±1.5%, respectively). Patients did differ (16 [12; 21]; 16 [13; 20] 21] ACT points, third had lower values patency comparison first second FEV 79.4±3.2; 92.4±1.7 (p<0.01); 92.1±2.9% FEF 25-75 46.4±4.3; 66.1±2.5 (p<0.001); 63.2±4.0% (p<0.01). IHCA groups 3, an increase number recorded from 35.5±3.9 to 46.0±3.8% (p<0.05) 39.0±3.8 52, 4±4.4% (p<0.05), respectively, while change (43.2±2.4 44.3±2.1%). response all significantly increased more than 30% (p<0.05). Conclusion. mobilization a mixed pattern patients is associated worsening An content granules action aimed at enhancing secretion enzyme interstitium, activating its oxidative respiratory tract, escalating oxidative/halogenating stress that accompanies bronchospasm.

Induced Bronchoconstriction in Patients With Asthma*
Background: Leukotriene (LT) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) receptor antagonists have been used in the treatment of asthma. Objectives: We examined the effects of an LT receptor antagonist, TXA2 receptor antagonist, and TXA2 synthetase inhibitor on bronchoprovocation test (BPT) in patients with mild-to-moderate atopic asthma. Methods: BPT was performed four times in each of six asthmatics. Developme...
متن کاملSeverity of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction is related to airway eosinophilic inflammation in patients with asthma.
Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) is widely prevalent in asthmatic patients. Eosinophilic airway inflammation is considered to be a major factor in the pathogenesis of asthma. However, the effects of eosinophilic airway inflammation on EIB have been elucidated insufficiently. To examine the relationship between the severity of EIB and eosinophilic inflammation, sputum induction and exe...
متن کاملBenzalkonium Chloride Induced Bronchoconstriction in Patients with Stable Bronchial Asthma
BACKGROUND Although benzalkonium chloride (BAC)-induced bronchoconstriction occurs in patients with bronchial asthma, BAC-containing nebulizer solutions are still being used in daily practice in Korea. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of inhaled aqueous solutions containing BAC. METHODS Thirty subjects with bronchial asthma and 10 normal controls inhaled up to three 600 micro...

Asthma and exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in athletes.
Regular exercise is one of the most effective means to maintain good health. A substantial proportion of the general population engages in competitive sports, including many people with asthma; when controlled, asthma does not restrict exercise performance. Indeed, exercise training can improve asthma symptoms, quality of life, exercise capacity, and pulmonary function, as well as reduce airway...
